When I saw Billy Nees spotted out a country mile at Cecil by a new COPO, it was cool to watch the hunt, and Billy prevailed, it was rather awesome.
I welcome the Land Yachts of yesteryear to help provide a tear to the new cars, lol.....
I actually love all stocker/super stocker cars. (and trucks)

The 74 & 75 are both @ 300hp. & with the grand canyon in the top of those pistons I don't think its factored wrong.I had a choice of 2 cars, my current Cougar or the LTD for an "N" car. I haven't seen a mad rush to build these cars, Vic is probably the only one actually putting one together. Mine is sitting in the yard rotting right now. I cant bear to have these 70's cars hauled off & crushed & get made back into Toyotas. When Vic said he was looking for a 460 I thought this was a good way to @ least resurrect part of an old friend back to racing.

Wont there always be a more bogus combo in the weeds? Cadillac, BLown Studebaker, Vega OH cam?
Dick, Just curious what IS NOT a bogus combo in your mind?
Maybe a 4bbl SBC Stocker engine with the hp rating beat to death, that a guy would have to spend 30 Grand on to be a second under?

Who cares if the HP is right or wrong? I always thought that drag racing was build a car that you like and believe is competitive, put a dial in on the window and stage it. Being on the top of sheet or the bottom of the sheet won't mean a thing late Sunday afternoon when they hand you the clip board and a pencil.

I have a '83 T-Bird bracket car with a '75 LTD 460 engine in it. All it has is an aluminum Performer intake and a cheapo Summit flat tappet cam. Still has the orginal 1975 piston rings.

Those engines are real low on compression ratio.

Tough engines for sure, but those exhaust ports are weak.

I would love to see someone build one of those 70's LTD and get it under the index.

Guess being a second under can be good to qualify but I guess I always wanted to beat someone who had a similar car even if we were both over factored. Always liked class better than ..... I only learned SBC, BBC tear down and work. Got to give credit to you guys who learn the others and apply it to these cars.

And trust me the 2013 season for me was no picnic .And I do consider myself a true "hot rodder" .

And a very Merry Christmas from those of us on the 'other coast'.
The same thing could be said for bogus factors on new cars. I've said it to many times, but a racer I get along with pretty good with a new car told me in Houston he was running 1.00 under at 75% throttle. Now we get along but if that isn't bogus I don't what is.

I wonder when Hp will be dropped as the standard. Seems the way the factors sit and the very slow adjustments and next years bogus hps it keeps hurting everyone but those with the money to move around cars or give up if disgusted with the deal.
