As Ron stated, its presented mathematically incorrectly. Once the $3 is returned to the Sailors $30 is no longer in the equation. It is the $25 in the clerks pocket, the $2 in the bell boys pocket and the $27 the Sailors paid. Those are the only 3 amounts that exist.

The riddle about the sailors made my head hurt, but I just tried the formula they have for determining HP from ET,MPH, and weight.
Both my cars were way off, the RWHP the calculator claimed was about what my engine dyno numbers were, the flywheel HP was way too high. I think that calculator is more oriented towards typical street cars, or poorly set up vehicles. I find the old Moroso "Power Speed Calculator" slide rule to be much more accurate. The HP lines up very closely, and the ET and MPH pretty much line up to each other as well.

Here is a site that I have been using for years for weather calculations. On the left hand side of the page there is a section for engine tuning by either dew point, relative humidity or absolute pressure. Try it.

Thumbs up Re: Looking For Formulas To Figure Things Out ?

I seem to remember a web site like this one several years ago with calculators such as these. Can't remember the name however. Thanks John for posting this, I have bookmarked the site! Jim
