Photo is not the car from the HOT ROD cover but the wagon he rolled at Muncie Dragway at the Little Go on wednesday night before Indy. I was there. It was sprinkling and they kept running the cars. The picture is the result. John removed the usuable stuff and then built the Delivery.A guy from Indy climbed the fence in the AM to check it out and several years later gave me the license plate off this car since I purchased the Sedan Delivery third handed. Still have the plate somewhere. Wish I still had the delivery but changed it to a wagon and kept going to fit the NHRA rules changes.

I would have to say, both "Hard Times'' Firebirds...The original Truman Fields car, and the 2nd one, owned now by Todd Hoven. They are both National event winners, and i believe Todd's car has won Stock Championships, 2 of them...THe original was a Ram Air 2 car, now restored and owned by Jim Mino. Not sure if the #2 car was a Ram Air 2 or a 330hp car...Todd could chime in on that... and I would have have to nominate my Bird, as #3 hehehe( kiddin guys

Many of the mentally most valuable race cars came from the era of the Car Craft Magazine about JR. STOCK. That magazine was my introduction and bible on Drag racing. Then the era became so popular Hot Rod chimed in and Super Stock magazine was in the mix also. Couldn't get enough of the fine points of Jr. Stock...current cars WAY out of line with the "good old days" of rules and rulebooks.

How about Bobby DeArmond's 1969 Camaro the first stocker in the 9's and there is not a nicer car of any kind anywhere! And I didn't see a reference to Cal & MaryAnn Method's Chevy Nova which has won it's share of national & divisional races. Only God car remember how long they have raced that car.

Dick, so you changed the car to a 2 door window wagon? Do you know the whereabouts of the car today? Thanks. |
