Someone correct me if I am wrong! I believe the MX class cars were created in the late 70's, for ex pro-stock cars, to use in Comp eliminator, with 4&6 cly engines. In the early 80's they were moved into Modified. After the demise of Modified eliminator, they were then absorbed into the Super Stock ranks. The cars themselves can be built very close to the early Pro-Stock rules, with complete tube chassis, fiberglass fenders, doors, hood, deck lid, lexan glass, etc.
