Although we never met in person, thru many e-mails and phone calls over the years Mike became a very good friend and I benefited a great deal from his helpful advice. My heart felt condolences go out to his family. Rest in peace my friend.

This is terrible to hear. I was working on the control system in the building that Mike and his son work at last month and spent some time talking to both. This is truly a sad day for the class racers family. Condolences to the family.

What a bummer...RIP Mike.
I always looked forward to seeing the "High Adventure Hemi" on the line at BIR, Topeka, etc.

Mike and I have been friends for 37 years. It all started back in 1977 when a couple of Mopar smitten 21 year old kids with a lust for the 426 Hemi met for the first time. Mike came to my shop to buy some parts.....Mopar of course! Since that very first meeting we went on to be occasional partners in business and racing with a common goal of racing nothing but the king of NHRA Super Stock the 426 HEMI as The High Adventure Hemi race team. Mike was in SS/CA with his '65 A990 Plymouth Belvedere and me in my SS/AA 'Cuda. Mike subsequently replaced his '65 car with his now famous SS/EA Plymouth 'Cuda convertible. After buying and blowing several store bought Hemis we decided to undergo an overhaul of our Hemi race engine program by building our own. Through his help and guidance my life and career was forever changed and my automotive machine shop was born. We were moderately successful initially; at least able to stop the carnage, but something was keeping us from achieving our desire to be "fast"! Can you say DYNO and flow bench????? Mike became a porting, flowing and camshaft aficionado. He was the brains behind any and all success we enjoyed. All I did was do a little machining and push the lever on the DYNO.......a few thousand times! Mike truly wanted to be the best and fastest in his class. He wanted to be record holder, and not just in those rare mine shaft conditions (not in Div 5) or at a "funny track" (Green Valley), but right here in the midwest. He did set those records, but not in one division but three (Div 3, 4, and 5)! He had indeed achieved his goal of being fast. He was without a doubt the King of NHRA Super Stock Street Hemis!

Mike leaves behind his wife Vicki, son Michael and daughter Ashleigh as well as more friends than can be counted. I am proud to have been one of those friends and undoubtably a better person because of him.

Godspeed Mike, you will be missed!

This is extremely sad news. Mike was a wonderful guy, and great racer. He and Pat were among the first on the scene to lend a hand when I struggled with the Street Hemi combo, even though we were running the same class. Mike had several opportunities to use me as a first round duck, but never did. He was a class act, a very sharp guy, and I'm sure going to miss him. R.I.P Mike, and prayers for the family...and for you too, Pat.
