Need a little clairification please.
I'm looking at the different kill switch's and there are two and four posts. The four post is supposed to be for running a alt and the two post is for no alt. If you are cutting into the positive battery cable from the battery in the trunk does it matter which one you use? I have a alt and the battery is in the back. Which one would be correct?? Is more posts better??

Buy the four post and run your alt. through it. It will kill all of the power to the alt. unlike the two post it only shuts off the power to the rest of the car. Hope this helps, Mike

The battery switch must kill the engine when switched off, so if you do run an alternator, you have to wire the alternator through the switch as well, so the 4 post switch is the best/easiest choice.

dumb question here but why couldnt you run your alt wire on the same side as the hot off the battery to the switch??

You can easily do that, but it will kill your battery if a diode fails in the alternator.
I like knowing that all the wiring is dead when the switch is in the off position also. |
