Default Re: Best converter for reaction times on Footbrake??

My resent experience footbraking is similar to yours. What I changed was the stator in the converter. It hit harder and quicker that the other set up with the same stall. I use a FTI converter. They are VERY popular here in the southeast and that group races allot with allot of different cars. I am sure that there can be a simple change in your converter to get it to react quicker. It took me from deep staging to regular staging. Hope this helps.

Go to Mark, he's the guy. He's been more than helpful as I put my combo together.

1. reaction times are just as much if not more about the car and the driver.

2. I stated for years on numerous forums, I challenge any and all converter manufacturers to build me a converter that is a tenth quicker and 1 MPH faster than my 8" ATI Treemaster converter.

Only one has accepted and failed miserably!

BTW, I've been 1.17 off the footbrake weighing 3144 lbs. and 1.28 weighing 3880 lbs.

I spoke with Mark, great guy and very knowledgeable and willing to give advise. That said I bought an ATI, they had their trailer at the Bristol NHRA race and gave me a good deal on their best Treemaster MRT series converter. I called Rob and spec'd it out. Had the converter in less tan a week but had to wait weeks to try due to rain and work. All I can say is WOW!. First pass out of the trailer the reaction was great but the time slip blew me away. My car isn't fast but it ran as quick as it did back in the spring with cool weather, but this week was 90's and high humidity. Everyone was complaining they were .1 slower than the week before and I was .1 faster or more than I had been all summer in the heat.
All i can say is i'm happy with my ATI!

Thank you to everyone in this thread.

I'm glad that worked out for you,Eman.

ATI has been around for a long time, and has a huge data base to work with.

We here, and other converter builders on C/R are willing to work one on one with some of the special and out of the mainstream combinations..Sometimes that ain't so bad.
