Smile U.S. Nationals Entries

Indy entries open tomorrow for Grade 8 and above. One difference that I noticed is that this year the quota for Super Stock is 160; in recent years it has always been 180. The Stock quota is still 180. Let the entries begin!

I saw that too. I wonder if that is a misprint. There are at least 20 SS/AH cars that are there that are nowhere else together.

As a big fan of Competition Eliminator, I also noticed that the Comp quota is 70 as opposed to recent years when it has always been 80. I doubt that there would be 2 misprints. Of course Comp car counts have been down at most events, including Indy; so it is understandable for the NHRA to reduce the quota. That logic does not apply to Super Stock.

Very true Lyn; but 2 things should be considered. First is that before the inevitable last minute withdrawals, Super Stock was at or very close to quota in both years. Second, as more CJs, and especially COPOs, are built; there are more cars that may want to enter. Also, the majority of the no shows are the SS/AH cars that are only there to compete in the Hemi Challenge; that will not change regardless of the quota.
