Default Roll Call for the Buckeye SS/Stk Double Header 6/21-22

This weekend is the Buckeye S/SS Drag Racing Series big double weekend. For many it is somewhat of a tow to the Xenia/Hamilton area so we are able to schedule both of our events for the weekend.
Saturday June 21st we are back at Kil Kare Dragway near Xenia Oh. At Kil Kare our race will be a 1/4 mile affair. This should be quite a treat as the track and facility have undergone quite a good dose of renovations. Everyone tells us that the traction there is superb, making for some great runs especially for high powered Stock and Super Stock entries. As a note racers can stay at the track overnite if they want and head over to Tri State the next morning. I also spoke to the track concerning diapers. The track encourages the use of engine diapers but they are not pushing the use of them for our racers that do not have them. If you have one , great. If you don't you'll also be good to go.
Sunday June 22nd we will again be at Tri State Dragway. Always a favorite stop for many of our racers it will be run , as most know , as an 1/8 mile race. The hospitality of the owners and managers has always been second to none when we get to their track for our S/SS race. Racers have the option of coming there Saturday night and parking out front in the holding lot (plenty of room there) to be there for the Sunday event.
I will post more information as to gate times , run times, ect. by mid week so you all can make plans. You can also go to the particular track web sites for information as well.
Looking forward to seeing you all this weekend for the Double Up weekend.

OK guys and gals we have more information for the double up weekend this weekend at Kil Kare Dragway in Xenia OH and Tri State Dragway in Hamilton OH.
Saturday June 21st we will be at the newly renovated Kil Kare Dragway. Gates open at 10:00 am and time trials start out with the Juniors at 10:45 followed by the regular rotation of their Bracket classes and then we are out after them and the UMTR stick shift guys are after us in rotation. Track tries to start eliminations around 3:15 if all goes as planned. Eliminations will follow the same rotation as in time trials.
Just so everyone knows, all of the concrete pads in the pit area are sold to racers for the season. There is plenty of pit space at Kil Kare so make sure not to use the sold concrete pads.
Kil Kare event will be run 1/4 mile. If you want to get to the track Friday and want in early you will have to pay a spectator fee to get in. If you wait until the Friday program is over you can get in and park for the night. Racers can stay all night Saturday if they wish.
Sunday June 22nd we will be at Tri State Dragway. Gates open at 9:00 to 9:30 am and time trials start at 10:00. They like to try to get eliminations started around 1:00. This will be contested as an 1/8 mile race. There is a test n tune on Sat. evening and if you get there early you can get inside and park for overnight. After the gates close you can park and stay overnight in the holding lot in the front of the track. (lots of room).
Don't forget the Dial for Dollars the first qualifier as well as the Best Winning first round package. Both pay $100 and cost racers nothing. Sponsored by Mid Ohio Paving and Parsons & Myers Racing engines. If that is not enough there is an extra $100 to the winner and $50 to the runner up in memory of Richard Doan who was a supporter of our series. The bonus is provided by Rob Holmes.
If there are any more questions call me(Jeff Ross) at 740-359-5877 (cell). Thanks and we'll see you this weekend.

When I sent out the e mail last night I forgot to let everyone know that besides the $100 entry for the S/SS race Tri State Dragway will also be charging a spectator fee of $10 for the drivers. If you are running our S/SS race PLUS one of their bracket classes the spectator fee will not apply to drivers.
If there are any questions you can call me at 740-359-5877.

Gate fees on top of 100 entry for a grand is no way to draw racers in. Good luck I hope you all have a good turnout. I be up Sunday but I am giving 100 for the 2 grand race with no gate fee.

That makes and extra $300-$400 for the track.
Although I believe the BSS is self-supporting and the tracks don't put any money into the purse, if the tracks didn't charge anything, they would essentially be letting the BSS cars race for free. The track operators need a little to support their business and we need make sure there will still be places to race.

Hagerstown does the same thing in the fall at Mike Carr's race, but the track does guarantee a $2000 purse there.

There is no track rental. Our races and the Buckeye series run on a regular race day. full bracket program. Most of our (Tri-State S/SS Association) races, car/driver are free at the gate; driver pays for crew/spectator. Hagerstown does charge ten bucks on Sunday, but they also guarantee $2,000 (or more) to win, as Chris stated. No one has ever complained about it. It's only ten dollars.

Pretty sure if Jeff Ross and Mike Carr had to rent the tracks out for there races the entry would be more than $100!! Also the pay out would be a lot less..
