If my memory is right....it started as "Heavy Hitter" in Portland as Stark Street Pizza's Rob Robinson. Then the Emmons Bros, then to some guys in Kentucky then to Ohio.....

I think the "Heavy Hitter" name started with Rob Robinson as he had a '65-'66 Chevy wagon with that name prior to the Chevelle.

Rob picked up the car from Woods at the MileHighs... either 85 or 87... I was there pitted near Rob when he got it... sorry I don't remember which year... and I'd agree that the Heavy Hitter name was carried over from the wagon...

The Heavy Hitter Chevelle is rich in history.Owned by Rob Robinson of Stark Street Pizza fame, I have been told Rob is a member of the softball hall of fame, hence The Heavy Hitter. When I met John Melvin he couldn't wait to show me the paint job on the Heavy Hitter. Hidden in the paint job a very talented painter or artist used the smallest brush in the world to depict a couple .....getting their groove on. LOL... John was very proud of the artwork. Sadly, years later John had a stroke and his racing days came to an end. John was quite a fierce competitor. The Emmons Brothers acquired the car and raced it occasionally although I couldn't tell which brother was driving the car at the time..LOL....My close friends from Horse Cave, Ky. ,The Forbes family then bought the car from the Emmons. After running it for years they traded the car to MR. Erwin in Ohio and I shortly lost track of the car. So nice to hear that The Heavy Hitter is back on the track.....Regards, M.J.

If memory is still working, weren't John and Linda from Temecula California which is southeast of LA. As I recall the car was a 68 model and was black with the Heavy Hitter graphics on it (at least in the 90's). Does anyone have any photos during that time period?
