I believe this is something that NHRA has to do!! The 8# weight break is from 30 plus years ago when GT cars began as rear wheel drive.(a big thanks to Don) IF NHRA can rollout a new weight break for the new factory cars when they get too much horsepower (both stock and SS), I think they should bring GT into this century!! Why not give GT the chance to also use the latest technology ?

Isn't this exactly the opposite of the NHRA vision of the future.............
New car bodies in GT with OLD MUSCLECAR Horsepower........... Now we can have old cars bodies in GT with new engine horsepower..... My, my how times have changed..... Bob

The only thing this will accomplish now would be that all the new cars will run GT instead of SS to save their combo from getting horsepower. Just as several do now with the 3 tenths harder index!

Or SS230 someone could take a 68 Cuda AH body and install a new 426 hemi in it for GT/BB, or everyone's favorite a 69 Camaro with the new 427 Chevy in a class lower GT/CC. New tech, the parts, new adventure.

Yes while I understand the concept, it's just my opinion that the changing of classes to avoid horsepower hits would happen more than old cars and new motors. Having said that it would give the older cars another class to go to to avoid heads up!

The person that already has a fwd gt car but wants to run the more current engines this needs to happen. Right now you have to go modified in order to go faster equals more money and less durability.Who do we have to call to get this done? John
