The white wagon was a Pure Stocker, the indexes for which are a full second slower than the NHRA Stock indexes. If they entered a Pure Stocker in an NHRA race and ran under the index at all, they were doing quite well.

Among the differences: the Pure Stock cam must check for stock duration and overlap; the stock 80 lb. valve springs must be used; no filled blocks; as well as the OEM type belt-driven water pump, original large pulleys, and steel fan. All of this stuff severely limits the peak rpm and horsepower.
