Angry Re: Johnny Williams RIP

May the 'Cajun Nightmare" Rest in Peace!

One of the greatest guys I've met racing Stock.
Allways a great time talking and joking.
Johnny did not want anyone to know how sick he was, found out about it from his good freind and Olds racer he brought along. Was asked to keep it to myself as Johnny did not want to talk about it, did not want sympathy just have fun at the track.

Spoke to him at the Dutch last fall, met his wife and son. Johnny offered to help me in teardown.

This is not supposed to happen to good people!

My condolences the Williams Family: Johnny's Wife and Son especially, his friends and family for the great loss.

Met him while I was working at State Capitol Dragway. He bracket raced for years (could have been the same car) prior to moving north. One of the really nice racers out there. RIP Johnny.

Johnny got me started in drag racing and was instrumental in me buying my race car. He worked countless hours with never a complaint setting the car up to be a stocker.

We traveled many miles to many races and had many great times including one "off road" adventure coming home from Indy. Drag racing without Johnny just won't be the same for me. My condolences to Audrey and the family.

Godspeed Johnny

I remember Johnny and I having several races at Oldsmobile Day at New England Dragway. Johnny provided me with some motor mounts when I was setting up my Cutlas Wagon way back when. He and my Dad had several heads up races at the IHRA North American Nationals and that was always fun. We will most certainly miss him at the track.

I first Johnny not long after he moved to RI from LA. We were bracket racing at the time at New England dragway and we quickly became good friends. I could fill a page with the adventures we had in our travels back them, there was never a dull moment.
In his prime Johnny was one of the best racers I ever met. He had won so many races his entire house was filled with trophies. Every window sill, shelf and corner had one in it or on it. He had an uncanny ability to win rounds when he had to, I've never seen anybody who could do that like he did. For example I think it was 92 or 93 for him to win the division 1 title he had to go to the last points race on the east coast, which was Gainsville at the time, and had to reach the semifinals, he went one round further and was RU and won the first of his two consecutive D1 Championships. One of his proudest racing moments was making the cover of National Dragster when he won the Nationals at E-town. He won Oldsmobiles 300th race.
I'll never forget the many great races we had when we would do anything to beat each on the race track and them sit back together after and laugh about it. I will be one of many who will miss his presents at the track, as he did touch so many people. Not only racers but fans as well.
For those who didn't know, Johnny always had a bible in his race car and had a strong belief in the lord, I'm sure he's up there now catching up with old friends.
Till we meet again,
George

I am so sorry to hear about Johnny's passing. He was a gentle man with a big afro, a pair of Chuck Taylor's, a warm heart and a big smile. He will truly be missed by his racing family.

RIP

What a shame. He was a great guy. I looked forward to seeing him at every race. We would talk about the Oldsmobiles from back in the day. He will be missed.
