Note that even back then, on the January 1968 cover of the magazine someone was asking...What's wrong with drag racing?

Would love to read that article to see the issues of the time.

Think you're right on Lepone...but I'm going to guess that's Niagara Dragway in NY. They had a "hot car" lane off to the side...just where the Vega is parked...I think?

I don't see the building that would show up in photos taken in this direction though....Across the street was an Air Force base...and the building was part of it...so I'm not sure?

One thing I AM sure of...is that I've got one of those Chevrolet racing jackets worn by the fellow in the background...think I got it from Berger Chevrolet...about that time.

I'll be DAMNED if it fits me today....HA HA HA!!!!!

H.M. Yellow COPO Camero looks a lot like Ed Hedrick's car, so I contacted him and had him look at the site. He got back with me and sure enought thats his car. My guess on the guy in the driving suit behind Grump is Jack Trost. Jack had an SRD P/S Vega. The Trost family had a body shop near Malvern that did most of the paint work for Jenkins and always did a great job in a short amount of time. They also did some work on Trans Am Camaros for a guy named Roger something from that area. Lots of experience with "thin" metal.
