Im using an Ultimate ll tach wih the tach facts software. Can I use an eight magnet collar or do I have to use a two magnet one. What are the benefits of the eight magnet one?

With most sensors, of this type, every time the magnet passes the sensor, the magnetic field generates a pulse. With two magnets, it would generate two pulses per revolution. Eight magnets would generate 8 pulses per revolution. The sensor does not care how often a magnetic field passes it. The problem is that the data logger, in your case the tachometer, is going to assume that two pulses are one revolution. So, with 8 magnets, your driveshaft is going to show that it is spinning 4 times faster than it actually is.
