Restricting individuals from participating in a staged TV show about "street racing" could be the prelude to restricting people who race with other sanctioning bodies. This tv show is legal and really not nhra's business. I do understand them not wanting Nhra stickers on a car or maybe the nhra competition numbers but trying to restrict what individuals do by threats to suspend their racing privelige with Nhra seems rather stupid. I've been racing for more than 30 years and have seen the numbers of spectators and competitors steadily decline. The folks that run nhra don't have a clue. They are so dependent on two or three pro teams for their livelihood, that if anything happens to one or two of those teams the whole deal would fall apart. What they are doing to these folks is heavy handed and not in the best interests of the organization. It makes the management look clueless, something a lot of us already think they are.

Yes, NHRA is mismanaged at times
Yes, NHRA is losing its viewers
Yes, NHRA seems to not care about its sportsman
Yes, NHRA missed the boat on a TV show about real guys and their real cars and their real battles every year to make the list. Its called sportsman racing, And there are plenty of more entertaining people to watch in Div 4 alone
Yes, NHRA likes money....

But, NHRA cannot be associated with anybody who promotes street racing. Fake or Real, doesn't matter. NHRA doesn't care about a youtube video with 5k views. They care about a group of people, who NHRA is associated with, actively promoting an idea that is directly contrary to NHRA's very existence. Would you want an American citizen to keep his Citizenship if he went to fight for ISIS? An extreme example, but on the exact same lines. This is the first time NHRA has done this, and its only because its directly contrary to their mission. I cannot see this going any further into DUI's and other arrest, unless you get on National TV clearly representing affiliation with NHRA and promoting drunk driving.

I can see both sides. If it discourages dumb-azzes from actually street racing, I'm with NHRA. Did I street race when I was a kid? Sure did. Had a 14 second '56 Chevy (wasn't an old car then ) not an 8 second car. I have seen enough of them get loose and tear stuff up, I have to wonder why they don't just go to the NHRA track at Noble for test & tune nights. Wouldn't seem all "outlaw" to them, I guess. Jeanie and I do enjoy watching them, and they really do have fast cars.

Might as well post it here since I posted on another site also......

This man gets it. Nice to see some common sense and intelligence in here with you and Nitro. These bashers are amusing though.....

Yes he does, but.....its slim pickens out there, so...why would ANYBODY pit one group of parts buyers against another?

I get their point, but their PR department is horrible! maybe they ought to, fire the whole dam crew and move them offices out of California and into the real world where they can see what the hell is going on? and capitalize upon it

Look at all the promos from the automotive industry about their new supercars. Does anyone think that you buy a fast car to go slow? Car after car doing burnouts. That visual sells cars. After market industries work hand in hand with the automotive manufacturers. They did it thru the 60's, 70's the smog days to present. How to you thinh NHRA got all the new AAA?,AA/,Al ? etc. stockers. Glendora didn't do it. NHRA does not offer alternatives to promote drag racing into a viable sport. Followers are not leaders. Selling dog food is not drag racing. This is big government in racing. Obviously NHRA doesn't know how staged "real life" shows are produced. Stick to what you know and do it better. If you don't what your doing then step aside.

This show has been on for almost two years. Why now are they sending out letters. Is it because the show is getting so popular? Are they that concerned about their mission statement? Or is it because they are competition? When IHRA was doing well a few years ago and a lot of the pro teams were crossing over and running IHRA. NHRA imposed a testing ban supposedly to save the teams money. Was that the reason or was it to prevent them from racing with their competitor.

Hi,

The best way to tell how people will act in the future, is to look at the way they have acted in the past....

I am happy the you feel comfortable with NHRA doing the right thing like a benevolent dictator, but I look at NHRA as having no rudder or direction

The only reason that NHRA might be associated with street racing and Street Outlaws is because NHRA wanted to be associated with Street Outlaws because of the press and coverage this dust up has caused......

Street Outlaws doesn't give a crap about NHRA, all they care about is ratings....

Maybe NHRA might learn something. But I doubt it

On another note...
I have come up with a plan to increase the quality of the NHRA Executive Staff...... Prior to being hired they must be able to state the firing order of any engine………How many would have job right now....Don’t get me wrong there are many smart and talented employees at NHRA but they are hopelessly outnumbered by higher up Executives, who make policy and don’t have a clue…

I race NHRA because it’s the Big Leagues and now they are acting bush league……….

They should mark the years with a BW and an AW, because when Wally passed away it turned into a different NHRA....

Bob
