The dock strike has and will continue to affect many things. The dock workers were instructed by union leaders to "work safe" which is code word for slow down to put the hurt on the company financially for labor negotiations. It will is estimated to take another 3-6months before shipping returns to normal. There are still 29 ships anchored in the bay awaiting their turn.
It has affected many businesses just some line workers may not understand how much because they are not privy to some of the information behind the scenes. So it's plausible this is affecting your situation also.

If your supply is disrupted for months, why not find a small quantity supplier elsewhere?
NHRA awards about 300 big Wallies and maybe 2500 small Wallies per year. Get an order of 100-300 made locally until the shipping backlog gets caught up. Doing nothing has got to be making a bad cash flow situation worse. It's what you do to save your own business. What happens if the regular season gets further underway, and the shipment still hasn't arrived? I understand how the Gap can't turn on a dime and get 2 million khaki's sewn in Chicago when their Malaysian supply is delayed, but we're talking 10 pieces per day here. In fact, how much could they possibly be saving by importing a few thousand pieces of finished mahogany? Get a back up source!

TONY.
Have you lost your mind spouting common sense like that? Have you thought about what that would do to the NHRA executive salary/bonus schedule? Tom C., et. al. won't be having any of that kind of thinking. I'd be surprised if your NHRA Competition Number is still valid. Jerry |
