All I can say is WOW!!!
Over 24,000+ views on this post, even to the extent the server is getting bogged down! All I can say is I have never seen this much bickering about HP on any other make before. In the past when Mopars or Fords get hit, there is not the commotion except with the GM racers happy they got HP. Now Chevy products get hit with HP and I don't see the other guys happy it happened, except for Chevy racers fighting within themselves! I do not believe the two racers meant to go that fast; like it was said before, the Pro racers were also flying down the track. In the years I have been in the sport, with the exception of setting a record or being protested, I have never seen an engine taken apart after hitting the AHFS. Wrong or right, I do not believe NHRA is going to change the way the have been doing it. What I believe is there are a lot of cars that are capable of running fast and holding back. Nevertheless, all it takes one hiccup while driving, you go fast when you didn't expect to do so and the cat is out of the bag! If anyone feel that either any of both racers were cheating, then wait until the next race and protest them. |

If you are in a heavily populated class then it is much more difficult to "protect your index" especially if you want to win class. Obviously these two racers wanted to win the class trophy and let it all hang out. Really this is what class racing is all about. The reality with tear down is lately I have only seen tear down when a record is set or at Indy. The last few years at the Gator's they haven't done any tear down.

This was not Class Eliminations, but rather 2nd round of eliminations of a national event, proved to be the critical round in winning the event, and an incredibly close run at that.

Guess you've not seen what happens at D-1 or D-3 events. Thats where there are teardowns for a -1.20 AHFS violation. At least they have always done that in the past. Who knows what will happen now.

I believe a lot of factors were involved such as; 1. Only one qualifying pass that didn't allow a baseline for follow on runs. 2. Not enough time for tear down if NHRA was willing to do so although I believe they will not done so at a national event unless they was class. 3. Excellent weather conditions that affected every class. 4. Two great racers ducking it out to win. ![]() Last edited by SSDiv6; 03-31-2015 at 10:10 PM. |

I had to rear down at least twice in div. 3 for more than 1.2 under.

I thought that was a Freudian Typo. At least you did not say "Tare Down"!

Both cars and teams are experienced and know and abide by the rules. I'm sure both were close to the edge but not out of spec.
The cars got it for three years. Enjoy |

HP is back in the guide. Looks like NHRA site was having issues. I noticed the Event registration page was doing some wacky things as well.
