Wow, I just saw a picture of that from the Motor Mania TV coverage. Third yellow stayed on, no green, no red. I guess a QUAD zip RT confuses the tree. Thank God that didn't happen in our lane, lmfao.
It was a long and sometimes frustrating weekend, but I just want to commend the Richmond Dragway staff. They did a great job with what they were confronted with, and were probably the friendliest bunch I've ever encountered, from the credential trailer to the concession stand to the owner. |

When I worked as announcer at our local track in 2012-2013, a driver had a quad-zero perfect reaction time (.0000) in the Friday night final, and same thing. Third amber stayed on, no red, no green. He lifted, thinking he went red, and lost. He was offered a re-run, but declined it. It might be an AccuTime thing.

I agree. It was probably an even longer weekend for the race operators as it was for the racers.

You're absolutely correct. It is an Accu-time thing. I just got off the phone with Skooter at IHRA and he explained it fully.
This is messed up, but you can have a .0000 red light OR green light, but in neither case will the red or green be illuminated. A .0000 RT results in the bottom yellow staying on, period. If its a "green" light, the race is on. If its a "red" light, the lucky recipient's score board will light up. If the result was a .0000 "green", the bottom yellow staying on could clearly create an issue for either competitor. Both could make judgments or take action thinking the race was over when it wasn't. This obviously needs to be addressed (although I'm sure a .0000 RT doesn't come up too often). With that said, this situation had ZERO bearing on our run, at least from our perspective. I can't speak for Mr. Walton, but given the outcome, I'm thinking he was OK with it. And given the multiple Scotty's he liberally distributed throughout the shutdown, I'm sure of it... |

So a track with an Accu-time system puts the racer at the mercy of a "glitch". This should automatically justify a re-run.
Just my opinion.... |

Am I the only one that doesn't know what a "Scotty" is?
