Can't say I'm thrilled about the random pairs first round feel, if I get a heads up run and I'm not prepared that would suck don't you think.

They,(NHRA), generally work hard to avoid having heads-up races in the first round of a random pairing race.

Well that sounds good, how do they set the ladder afterwards?

That would be based off of a "qualifying" list against your index of the first round winners. And any buy-backs..... OK, just kidding about the buy-backs.....

What's the deal with "Drivers wishing to change cars for the event must contact the Division office?"

A couple of racers were there with borrowed cars because their cars were not ready in time for the race. One racer asked if he could come back with his own car and race in a different class and was told no. He was told that he did not have to come back with the same car but must race in the same class that he entered.

BTW, they could have gone through several rounds of eliminations on Sunday afternoon and saved a lot of time, money and stress for the racers. As the announcer put it, they did not want to spend $2,000.00 for fuel to put heat into the track. So, I guess, it's OK for the racers to collectively spend in excess of $50,000.00 to come back. They should have taken a shot at getting in three rounds and then the race could have been completed prior to the MG Divisional. Saving the racers a lot of time off and dough.
