The generator on this toter we just got is acting up. It has been just fine. It set up since Houston. We were getting everything ready for Belle Rose and now it's acting up. It cranks and runs fine until you put a load on it (A/C), then it starts surging and trying to quit. Anybody seen this before? It's an Onan 5500 watt gas. Any ideas? Spark plug, fuel filter maybe.

Charlie: Have you checked the roof ac to make sure it is ok - I would fire the Gennie and try your Microwave and hot water heater to see what the Gennie does - if it act's the same you probably have a Generator issue and I would start with the furl filter and invest in a small RV amp gauge that plugs into the recepticle so you can monitor Voltage

Charlie,
I would verify the voltage with a meter before you turn anything on when it is acting as described. It could be producing low or high voltage and this could damage anything turned on, or plugged in. It would also help to post the model # of the generator. Sean

Thanks for the help. I changed the spark plug and fuel filter, and it's running fine (for now).
