Schedule update for Saturday; all classes get 1 time/qualiting run and then all classes go to round 1. And start time is moved up to 9:00 am.

It's about 7:30 and we are just about ready to go to the second Qualifying run.

I left the track about 9:15 and S/S was just being called to the lanes. The second round of Stock should be quicker for most since the temp dropped from the mid 70s to 60 degrees. Here are the top of the QSheets after the first run.

Ben Kallies. Super clean 454/365 B/Stick Corvette.

Jim and Rodney Kaekel.

Jeff Blanchard in the former Dave Workman Mustang from Division 7

100% chance of severe weather Sunday...
Let's give everyone a third time run Saturday morning that no one needs and draw it out even more...does anyone understand this decision because it makes no sense to me

Good morning. Another beautiful day here in Chicagoland. The barometer is up from yesterday and the blustery winds from yesterday have moderated. Should be a little quicker for Q3 this morning

An ambitious schedule for today with the possibility of finishing it all before the rain hits tomorrow. The forecast this morning shows the heaviest rain south of the track - but it still looks like a Washout day here.

Perhaps as a nicety for those in the NHRA world who still have day jobs and cant take off every other Wednesday-Sunday.. Give the working people a chance to drive all night Friday and show up for one hit Saturday morning and at least stay involved at the divisional level?

Stock Q3 is done. At this pace we should be going to eliminations sometime after noon.

A couple of photos.

Lynn Smiths 73 Buick Regal 455. I think this has to be the only 73 Regal running in Stock today. My parents had the exact same color but with the 350

Al Wicks Cuda - some of you older readers will remember his Father Jim Wick who ran Chrysler S/S cars and Pro Stockers in the 60s and 70s. Jim was always in an ignition ad in Car Craft and Super Stock.

Former Comp Eliminator racer Gary Merricks 70 Camaro with Baldwin Motion treatment. Very Cool.

Those same people who couldn't show up on Friday are probably going to have a hard time making it on Friday to the make-up race at the next event, one they may or may not have been planning on attending in the first place. NHRA should think about the majority in these situations, not the few people who rolled in on Saturday morning.

Round 1 of stock is complete. A number of breakouts- maybe due to the headwind that died. The temp was 61 at 8:00 this morning and now at 1:30 it's up into the 80s. A good crowd is here already here and more coming in for the "Showdown" this evening

Round 2 is scheduled for 5:00 after the Alcohol cars, jets and wheel standers make their first run. And round 3 sometime after that.

Racing is progressing with no issues ( my fingers are crossed ). S/S has just been called to the lanes for round 1.

Clarance Harding built this COPO from a wreck- doing all the work himself. Still waiting for a Trans from Coan he brought it here to get a grading point. It's the 427 2014 combo. Very nice craftsmanship

The "Porta Party" is open for business with a live band

Jim Lovallo built this cool RO23 clone with a 426 street wedge
