Default Re: battery mounting, kill switch Q?

I have a battery in the trunk which runs the ignition, fuel pump
and the starter. I have a shutoff switch in the rear for that battery
I also have one under the hood that runs the accessory like water
pump and fan, lights, I never seen in rule book they have to be hook together. Thanks for the help with the switch.

There must be one master cutoff that disables all electrical functions of the car. Running two batteries, one in front and one in back is not a usual setup and isn't addressed in the rules. The idea is for rescue personnel to be able to kill all electrical flow in the car from one switch on the outside in the event of an accident. Your running stuff under the hood could start a fire in the event of a fuel spill.

This is in the general Section.

"8:4 MASTER CUTOFF"
Mandatory when battery is relocated, or as outlined in Class Requirements. An electrical power cutoff switch (one only) must be installed on the rearmost part of each vehicle and be easily accessible from outside the car body. This cutoff switch must be connected to the positive side of the electrical system and must stop all electrical functions including magneto ignition. The off position must be clearly indicated with the word “OFF.” If switch is “push/pull” type, “push” must be the action for shutting off the electrical system, “pull” to turn it on. Any rods or cables used to activate the switch must be minimum 1/8-inch diameter. Plastic or keyed switches prohibited. Switches and/or controls must be located behind rear wheels on rear-engine dragsters.

well, now that we have the switch issue solved, how about the battery box?
does it need to be IN a box or can it be in a tray bolted to the floor?

When the alternator goes away, Bob. Not long.
All these switches and levers and cables are looking more and more like Bracket Two every day.

Meanwhile, what's wrong with one of these?
