Looking at IHRA's list of accepted GM/Mopar crate motors it seems rather dated. There have been several new factory GM (LS2,LS6.LS7,ZZ572), and Mopar (406 magnum,410 magnum, 440 super commando small block combinations, come along in the last few years, why has the list not been updated?. I think some of these would make awesome crate motor combinations and add a few more wheels up combos to IHRA stock.

I believe it's along the lines of what GUMP said, the factory needs to supply the "official" specs to IHRA before they are allowed. Not sure if IHRA has to initiate it, or the factory, or if racers need to encourage the factory. But it needs to be "approved" before use.

Not trying to hijjack the post, but here goes any way. Years ago I read theNHRA was thinking about going to a crate motor SS. Did that fall into the abyss or was the NHRA just blowing smoke up a certain oriface?

Re: Crate Motor SS... I think you could use some of the higher horsepower 350 Chevy crate motor combinations as a base for Super Stock Modified Stock for a "relatively" low buck index runner...
