True. It's been my experience having lived here in the middle of the bean fields all my life that people out here tend to make do with what they have rather than take an easier route and go buy something trendy and finished. I started out racing a '69 Firebird I drove in college in the late 70s, went through a few typical Chevy cars in the 80's because I bought and flipped a lot back then, then went temporarily insane and started buying some muscle AMC's because they were around and could be had real cheap. I ended up racing a '70 Rebel Machine and a '69 AMX 390 auto car in the 90's and early 00's before I put things to rest for a few years to get on with some other things in life. The AMX was certainly not a planned thing, it was a car I bought wrecked for $450 and fixed up and took it to the track "to see what it would do". Three identical ET's in eliminations the first night, an AMC Nationals win in '96, and many years and many thousands of $ worth of wins later I retired it and put it away for safekeeping.
Now I finally want to build that stocker I always wanted and join your club.
