Default Re: Weather Prognostication

I have talked myself out of the Doorslammer's @ Ohio Valley, high % of rain tomorrow, temps in 50's,even if doesn't rain not sure it will be able to be dried,Sunday looks pretty good.
I just serviced clutch and need if really lucky 2 passes to dial clutch in,not lucky 6-8 passes.
Had planned on test and tune at London tonight, but won't happen due to rain.

Weather forecast I use at home is get up go outside and see what it is like.

Saturday forecast looked good just a couple of days ago, and has since degraded substantially. Just another illustration that forecasts lose accuracy the further out you get (which *should* be common sense) Looking at a forecast from over a week ago would be completely useless.

Usually the best bet! "Weather rock: If I'm wet, it's raining."

The Buckeye S/SS Series originally scheduled for Saturday at National Trail Raceway has been moved back to Sunday.

We can talk about the weather all day, but here are some realities. In Houston at the race that wasn't a race, my 45000 lb rig was the poster child hanging off the giant front loader with 8' tires. The race was called. I thought it was right. Kevin been complaining about it since. So who is right. That day at least half the Sportsman racers could not even unload their cars unless they wanted a few inches of mulky mud in the cars. Then this year it was questionable in Houston. NHRA allowed extra time to withdraw and the number dropped and got manageable for the available parking that would not go under again as there were no improvements made until Tuesday of race day.. They had the race. If the 150 or so had not withdrawn, that giant front loader would have been needed again. Keystones are down to 300 total cars. If they get any break, the race will go on. Maybe we get more unexpected weather down South because of the Gulf of Mexico. Maybe Reading dries faster than Houston after all, it is below sea level and controlled by pumps. A couple of years ago, a wayward hurricane forced Indy to go till next week if I remember right. And sometime being on the safe side is good, and withdrawal is the answer. Miles to the track, time off, dollars, and lots of other things come into play. I think the extended time to withdraw from the race could help lots of racers because a racer can rearrange his season. Now late like this in the season, it is a harder call to make. My 2 cents.

Question Re: Weather Prognostication

That's why I sent an email to NHRA Competition Dept. on Tues. thanking them for pushing the withdraw deadline back but asking what would be the possible plan for reschedule if the race was cancelled or would it be finished on first available fair weather day(s)? I cited that we all want to race but have lives and plans so we can't make an educated decision about withdraw unless we know the parameters we're dealing with! Of course, the guy who is say 3-400 miles away and needs to be at work at 6am Monday would/should have no problem deciding to withdraw if race is going to be run out till complete! Or if cancelled till next weekend for the paid fans sake, and was already planning to be at the Dutch, no problem staying in!
OF COURSE, I RECEIVED NO RESPONSE! IMAGINE THAT?
At a dinner gathering on Thurs. evening we were discussing what we thought might happen and I came up that someone called Glendora to ask these same questions and the initial conversation started with a response of " Oh it's raining out there in Reading?" That about says it all! Well we're in it to win it so good luck to all that can stay and GET ER DONE!!!
