350 Chevy II's pretty much ruled the class most of 1970-1971
Our H/S record stood for quite sometime at 12.25. At some point (I don't recall what year) Class wt breaks changed a lot and lower classed cars wound up in H/S Warren -Register held the J/S record (I think it was) at 12.22 or 12.23.... Their car combination was moved into H/S and their record was then printed in ND as the H/S class record. I wrote a letter to ND about it and it was printed in the letters section. I was unhappy that our record was erased but meant no disrespect to the new record holders knowing how fast their car was. We ran faster than that 12.25 a few times....and much faster than the MPH record. Probably the best Chevy II H/S of that time around my area was Larry Lombardo's.....I saw him run some 12.teens and he won 2 WCS races I believe that year. Another good Chevy II was Tom Elks from Div 3 Also a very good car in H/S was Jack Marks....anOlds Cutlass from Div 3..... . Both cars got in at the first 2 Summernationals......when we missed the show..... I worked very hard trying to do well with our car......but it was tough and things just went against us at the big races....
