Yep, Rat Roaster RR-3 with Holley 4500 Dominator.

One correction: I mistook this car for the GT-1 'Cuda because of the rear spoiler. I'm almost certain I've seen a photo of Sox & Martin's single 4-barrel car with a rear spoiler.

It pays to look at the car numbers.

GT-1 (single 4-barrel) car and Pro Stocker at same race and both sans rear spoiler.

Pete

From an email I received:

"The starting line photo of the car at NED is 70, not 71. There was some spoiler work done on the first e-body car both front & rear and rear only. Ronnie did not like the looks of the spoilers. Also AHRA allowed glass bumpers which are on the PRO car there (painted red). The GT1 car had rear side marker lights. They were always filled in on the PRO cars.

I believe the Bob Snyder photos may have been taken at LI, NY race 2 weeks later but the same two cars, also AHRA.

I talked with Herb today to refresh my memory of the GT manifold and he confirmed it was NOT a rat roaster or dominator. It was a single 4 bbl Chry or possibly Vanke manifold and 850 Holley that was sent from engineering that was worked out on the dyno. It was put on and never had a bowl off or jet change. That car was only run 5 or 6 times and Ronnie & Herb both won with it. I don't recall it ever not winning."
