Bill,
The section where this is listed is for GT and FGT. Look at the proceeding paragraphs, and the ones just after, where it says the COPO Drag pak and Cobra Jet combos must run FGT. Why else would this be necessary if they didn't mean the weight breaks applied to the GT classes as well.

I doubt it. You will be at the same weight unless you decide to move up or down a class. The only thing that might effect the index is if they combine the stick and auto classes. I could see that happening.

Even if they use the stick index I would be going from a 10.65 index to a 10.95 stick index in GT/IA at the same weight that I was in GT/EA, no way the are just giving me 3 more tenths? Now if they use the superstock index for GT and SS my GT/IA index would be 10.70, my index would be back to within 5 hun of what it use to be. Basically then SS and GT would be almost the same weight vs index. Dick Butler may have been looking through a crystal ball, once they have this the next step would be combining GT/SS, that would cut classes in half. looks like a HP to weight break off the same index to me?

Herb, Only thing which would be in affect if they combine SS and GT into one set of classes would be the HP in a GT chassis versus HP in a SS car. With all the adjusting done for the past years it might actually be close for fwd versus rwd.(Jelly bean shape versus larger cars)

The way I interpreted the change would be the class designation would change. GT/EA would now be a GT/IA at 10 lbs/ HP. You would have the same numerical index of 10.65. They are just bringing the GT classes and weight breaks in line with the existing SS class structure. If the stick classes were combined with the autos then a weight or HP factor could be added to the stick cars or a weight reduction could be given to the auto cars to try to balance the class. Right now with my combo the stick car has less HP than the identical auto combo but carries a quicker index.

Mike, if I carry my 10.65 index along with me in GT/IA then all of the indexs would be changing to which is why I asked. Right now the GT/IA index for stick is 10.95 and automatic is 11.20
