The only time I have had oil pressure issues on SBC that I have assembled is when I had a 3/4 diameter pick up,whether it was windage or the pick up,I don't know?? but i do know I switched to 5/8 pickup and my issue went away ,I don't know if anyone else has had same experience, but I have on two different engines.

This is the EXACT pan I have.....[/QUOT I ran one of those Moroso pans for many years with no oil related issues. I doubt it is the pan causing problems. What oil and filter are you running? I don't run any passenger car oil or filters any more I also run a billet Moroso oil pump as well. Idles at around 35 and about 80 in the lights. I also have an idiot light to warn me if the pressure drops below 15 lbs.

I use that pan. Pickup 1/2" off the bottom. No tray (one of the top engine builders in the U.S. recomended leaving it out), have a baffle plate at the back to try to stop oil going up the back at launch. Stewart LOW volume oil pump. 60 psi in the lights, 30psi, warm idle. Warning light set to 20 psi. Bracket/slow down mode: 6qts of 10W30 Valvoline in the pan for "bracket"/slow down mode. Always a 1061 NAPA Gold oil filter. 4 qts of Zero-10wt RP for a tough heads up. Don't usually need it. I often run bearings two seasons, still look like new, sometimes go ahead and change them due to guilt. Have a drawer full of new looking used bearings.

I thought you said you are using the "newer" version below: The E-bay pan is NOT the same pan......maybe the one below is a better pan? ![]() |
