Correct. Come on Casey I know you for some time. You wouldn't spend it if you had it anyway lol. Entry level for stock is under $20000 for a decent car. And a bracket car cost $$$$$$$.

Who would anyone build a factory rated street combination when there are so many under-rated CJ/DP/COPO (and de-rated street Challengers....) combinations to choose from? Some of them cost a significant amount more money to build, but not all of them.

One specific combo I see mentioned here is the 2010 Camaro rated at 400hp. For comparison, the 1999-02 LS1 Camaro/Firebird is rated at 382, and while it's definitely not a killer combo like it used to be, it looks like two of them qualified at .90+ under at Indy this year.

The '10 engine has 30 more cubic inches, slightly bigger valves, and similar other specs according to the guide. Maybe I'm off base here, but shouldn't that be capable of making 30 hp more than an LS1?

Yes, you'd have to build a good, well sorted car to be competitive, but what's wrong with that?

I think my dues are up to date. I got more paid in dues than I have in Social Security.

Can anyone explain why shipping weights in gt can only be adjusted plus or minus 250 lbs to move up or down in classes but in regular superstock its now unlimited? Didnt gt get the 250 rule based off the regular superstock rule? It must have been inadvertently deleted at some point?

I believe that you are "misreading " the information. The 250 pound adjustment for GT is to determine your "natural" class......then you can move up or down one class. In stock and superstock, your natural class is what it is, weight vs horsepower...then you can move up or down one class with weight adjustments.
