I am in total agreement with Scott on this one. How could you expect a sub 7.50 alcohol burning dragster driver to wear a -15 suit with -20 gloves and -20 boots? I don't think -20 gloves lend themselves to adjusting your Biondo/K&R delay box very easily. And you can forget about "feeling" the button underneath your finger. I am all for safety, but why can a guy on gasoline going 7.0's still wear a -5 suit when someone on alcohol can't? I have had lots of mixed answers ranging from the PRI show to California. I like what IHRA has done and hope NHRA will follow suit. If the rules do change...looks like it is C14 next year.

Johnny,
I understand that Frank Manzo will be giving "whamping with style in -20 booties" lessons at the first divisional. srm |

Scott, have you been hanging with Mike Beard lately? haha
Taken from this site ... http://www.ihra.com/article/1872.html ***** For 2008, any non-qualified Top Sportsman or Top Dragster vehicles will be permitted to purchase an entry into the ET bracket race if so desired. There is also a maximum field of 128 vehicles at the events that do contest ET, so there must be an opening in the field in order to enter. ***** So you can move into the et category IF ..... 1 - you dont qualify in TD 2 - there is room in the ET category 3 - you shell out another entry fee Mike Beard - If you're out there, just curious how far would one have to go in IHRA ET eliminations to get his/her $400 worth of entry fee back? (assuming the entry is $200, which I don't know) As for the -15 and -20 rules ... looks like we switched to gas just in time. We did talk to NHRA at the PRI, and as Rock said earlier in this thread, there will be clarifications on the website. Seems NHRA lost an employee (Jim Skelly?) and they have been behind ever since. |

Good point Jason... they didn't clarify if you had to cough up the extra $$ for ET... I actually withdrew from TD at the Epping national event a couple of years ago after fat-fingering my NOS program on my laptop... two pistons later, I put the dragster back in the trailer and took the door car out for ET. Frankly, I don't recall having to drop another entry fee $$.
Good news is that if you qualify for TD, you get your entry fee back... srm |

I very rarely peek into this forum, but just happened to catch this.
>> Scott, have you been hanging with Mike Beard lately? haha I was like, "Whaaaaat?" ![]() >> Mike Beard - If you're out there, just curious how far would one have to go in IHRA ET eliminations to get his/her $400 worth of entry fee back? (assuming the entry is $200, which I don't know) I would think that you would 'only' have to pay the $150 entry fee, because you've already paid the insurance surcharge for that car. You may want to check with an official, though. Guess you can look at ET where available as a 'buyback'... although I didn't think they were having trouble filling the ET fields, except at races where the car counts were low in all the categories like Tulsa, where presumably everyone would qualify anyway. But anyhoozits... ET Bracket Winner - $2,000 (Box/No-Box runoff winner) Runner-up $1,000 (Box/No-Box runoff loser) 5th round win - $400 (this is R/U in Box and R/U in No-Box) 4th round win - $200 3rd round win - $100 2nd round win - $50 Payouts are listed in the back of every Drag Review.
