The Europeans however, must not being getting payoffs from the seat belt manufacturers, because their test results show a much different result when using the exact same seat belt material. Either that or DuPont only sends the "good stuff" to Europe and the US only gets what fell off the truck.

Not that I agree with the 2 year deal. D3tv nhra you tube channel has a sfi video on why it is 2 years. It is 40 minutes but not too boring.

Passenger vehicles, most are capable of reaching 120mph in moderate highway traffic. They are half the thickness as as a racing harness. I have cut them out of a 40 year old car sitting in a salvage yard for 10 years & used them to pull 800 lbs of engine & trans from a vehicle. They never expire in a passenger vehicle. The dates on the belts get checked every time i go through tech, my neutral safety hasn't been checked for 15 years. Probably way i got a-holed at atlanta Div. by Mark Young

I like to agree but.... My car is stored in a garage, a slow 10.20s bracket and S/ST car ... After two seasons they need replacing , I race 3 times a month almost year round, that's what my wife tells me. I guess I'm just hard on equipment......

Hello All.
I'm not really happy with the 2 year seat belt rule either.
But it is there sand box, and if I want to play I need to follow their rules.

I would say 5 years is probably a little fairer. The day of most race cars setting out side in the weather are gone. Enclosed trailers are pretty normal, and a lot of racers have garages to keep their cars in.

I know a guy that put new belts in his car at the beginning of the year.
Lost the motor on the 1st pass of the season, and did not get to race till the next year.
He raced at 1 local event, then he had some motor problems again that had to be taken car of and didn't get to race at all that year.
So he just put another set in the car so he can race this year. And no he don't buy the cheap $60/70 belts, he gets the good $150/200 cam lock belts.
His car is keep in a Heated garage, out of the sun covered by blankets.
So he got 3 or 4 passes on them and they are trash, all because of time.

I'm sure he is not the only guy out there that has had the same problem.
I'm sure there are plenty of brand new seat belts out there in boxes, that never got installed for one reason or another. Chassis shop, paint shop, engine builder, just plain life.

However with all this said, there is only one way to get this rule changed. Unforgenetly we as racers will never stand together long enough to get it changed or any other rule or entry fee's, or pay outs ect for that matter.

We just want to race, so we do what we have to, to race.

Just my 2 cents
