Consider this idea,
Chevrolet comes out with a new, retro truck [maybe looks like a late 60's, early 70's pickup] It is fitted with a Camaro or Corvette power train. It is listed in the NHRA classification guide for both stock and super stock. A new class is organized, "Hauler Trucks" |

Cost to buy something new and modify would be too high plus NHRA is steadily trying to reduce the number of sportsman racers with the stingy quotas that they have for national events. There are already way too many classes in both eliminators.

Remember the Chevy SSR? Yeah that was a real barn burner. Ford and Chrysler were smart not to put their feet in that pool.

Entry price killed that venture. That was a Hot Rod.

What do you expect the car companies to price a low volume product like a retro/hot rod pick up? All the start up and production costs involved just to satisfy a small bunch of old geezers makes a lot of sense. This is 2016 it's a new world order, can't bring back the past.

You can never say never, the Challenger and Camaro have sold fairly well. The coming Bronco could have a pretty good impact on Mr Woodfin's idea. I have heard quite a few off-roading folks, here in Ohio, beaming of the prospects of a better (reasonably priced) dirt toy than a Jeep.
