Re: coronet tire size
I have a 66 Coronet street car and the widest tire I can get on it is 9 inches. If you roll the wheel lip you will gain just about an inch. I think stock eliminator limits you to 10 inches any way.
The weird thing about my car and I have talked to others with 66-67 Coronets, is the tire clearance on the right side is less than on the left side. Obviously an engineering oops. I don't know if you are allowed to move the leaf springs inward in stock eliminator, but I think that would be the ticket to better clearance if allowed. |

Re: coronet tire size
The body mounts on those unibody cars are always so hard to loosen.

Re: coronet tire size
Chrysler products have a unit body and the rear spring bolt to the unit body, A GM car of
that era had a full frame such as the 63 409 car. Now you may be able to relocate the rear axel spring pads enough to move it to the left, but that will then cause other problems.

Re: coronet tire size
Back to the orginal question, a 8 or 8-1/2 x 15 wheel with a 4-1/2 backspacing.
If Chad or Scott Loge see's this post maybe they will chime in, Chad runs a 70 GTX in stock.

Re: coronet tire size
For stock elim, a 66 Coronet should be the same as a 66 Ply Belvedere . The bigest you can fit is an 8" wheel with 4 1/2" back space . Tire size of 9 x 30 will just touch when turning corners, otherwise fine. Don't base measurements of 70 RR or GTX to relate to your 66 as they have bigger wheel wells. I have a 70 RR C/SA and can tell you they a lot bigger than your 66. John Lang
