A quick midday update before stock runs its first round. The big news here is the weather and more specifically the tail wind which has reached speeds of up to 20 miles an hour. Add to that temps this morning in the low 60s and it makes for a lot of quick runs. About 14 more stockers and several more SS cars came in this morning.

Here are the stock qualifying sheets for the third round

And here is the schedule for today and you can see stock will be the last thing to run and the only first round to run today

I'll be back with a full recap on the day along with plenty of pictures later this evening..

Would they have access to portable lighting if they had to run late?

As Bob noted above R1 for stock got postponed until Sunday morning. I think they made the right call - as it turns out the paired cars would have been sitting waiting to run for almost 45 minutes.

It's interesting to note that the racing so far has been incident free - no crashes - no major oil downs - things have run very smoothly.

Now for some pictures of race cars. First up is the cool 71 Chevelle of Jeff and Justin Nibaur. Jeff spent almost 7 years taking his car from its tired used up musclecar state this really clean stocker. It's a steel head version of the square port 454.

You guys out west should recognize this car as one of John Irving's Mopars that is now owned by Steve Scherzchlist from South Dakota.

There are many elements of the design and construction at Earlville that are well thought out and the burnout box is one of them. As Lyn noted above the metal grating over the pit before driving into the water captures lots of the pebbles and gravel that the slicks pick up in the pits. After each class is complete one of the workers power washes that metal plate and hoses all the debris into that pit under the grate. I counted four or five workers in each lane between the Burn out box and starting line.

Interesting E Stick GTO. Love to more about it. That combo could lay a beating on the carb cars if they sort it out

X/2 James, Tim and I thought about that combo but too much old school in us. Will be at Earlville next year for sure, great facility, good luck to everyone today, Tony Tosto.
