Used to have a big time effect at Topeka. Funny cars would come in to 50 to 100 lbs light. They would put up a sheet of plywood behind them which killed only part of the effect. Scales inside helped a bunch.

Something else to consider. When I used to travel a fair amount, some of these tracks only used the scales once a year, the Divisional points meet. If its in the midwest / humid climates sometimes the scales would read heavy early on then loosen up by the end of the event. I remember a race in Kansas City I had to add about 8 gallons of gas (50 pounds) on Sunday throughout the day to keep up with the scale. Scales may be better now, but you never know. I typically run mine about 20 pounds heavy in V/SA.

I'll have to try and weigh right after you "extra heavy" guys bounce on and off the scales, maybe you can stretch out the scale springs temporarily for me! Appreciate all the responses on the thread, I think I'm going to bring my car in knowing it's about 30-40 lbs heavy at my first event and see how it goes. I'll have some easily removable small types of weight in it and I'll be able to adjust with fuel weight after that.
