If you don't already have it, aluminum radiator, aftermarket front disc brakes.

lighter battery? can switch to a braille, could save 20lbs there over an optima for example. Wildwoods will help out a lot for sure. do you still run the stock master cylinder? We just installed the mopar style master cylinder, not a huge weight saver but every little bit helps.

Do any of the aftermarket sub frames weigh substantially less than factory piece?
Are these prime pieces for the acid tank without sacrificing strength? |

I think a lot of the aftermarket pieces are lighter, bumpers, fenders, etc. Unfortunately, I think the how much weight you want to lose is equivalent to "how much money do you want to spend".

You may not need to get all the way to 50-50, most cars that I have worked on do well with 52% or so on the front.
The '67 six cylinder sub frames were sought after at one time as they were supposedly 20lbs light than the V-8 frame, I never weighed them to verify. They are easily identified due to not having the large holes on the inside near the bumper brackets. |

Aftermarket front sheet metal is substantially lighter than stock ,as it the radiator support . ...Add the lighter pump, battery and master cyl and you have a substantial savings in weight ,but not your wallet.
Aluminum seats can save as much as 70 pounds and offer more safety. As Jimmy said 50/50 really isn't necessary , I regularly have to twist arms to put weight back on the front of Stock and S/S cars

The narrow master cylinder weighs 6 lb. so the most you could save is 4 lb--if you can find an aluminum version of it (or are willing to use the aluminum/plastic type). The fatter master cylinder is available in aluminum from SS brakes, but it weighs about 4 lb and takes more fluid than the narrow style.
Use bolts just long enough, and if you are very industrious, I know of a 1970s racer who cut apart the front subframe, removed the overlap, and re-welded it together. |

I've taken apart more than one old Stocker with all the non suspension bolts replaced with aluminum ones .
It's all the little 1,2,5 pound items that add up . I ground 15 pounds off the back side of my AMX front bumper and mounts. mounted it with tubular bolts from the Sprint car guys up the road.
