MSD 8733 2 step

Has anyone used one of these? It's a plug-n-play type device that hooks up to the coil packs. I've heard mixed reviews good and bad. Before I go through the trouble mounting a momentary switch to the shifter I was hoping to get a little more feedback. It's not a class car but more of a bracket car. Just thought I could get a little more help here.

I use one in my 2000 SS for when I bracket race it..
Is is a stick car, so I trigger it with the clutch interlock.
If I remember correctly, I used a relay to get the correct signal (power) and installed a switch in the dash, so I can disable it when I drive on the street.
Works like a charm.

Thanks Thomas! It's a 01 camaro with a th350 manual valve body. My thought was to mount a momentary switch on the shifter so it will only activate when I am in low gear. My main concern is that there may be a slight delay when letting of the footbrake.

What do you think? And do I need a relay??

If you are going to mount a switch, you can get your power from anywhere.

The issue with me using the clutch interlock was that the power was off, with the clutch pedal depressed.
That is why I had to use a relay to provide 12 V to the 2-step to engage it.

The problem with using a switch, on the shifter, or something similar is that you have to be coordinated.
When you launch you will have to let go of the brake and the button.
Unless your ideal is to use the brake switch and button on the shifter in series.

I hooked this up about a year ago and I installed a jegs brake light switch. I'm not sure if the switch was faulty or if I had it hooked up wrong but with very little brake pressure the 2 step would activate. Well I removed it because I didn't want the 2 step to activate if I had to get on the brakes hard while driving.

So my thought is to mount a momentary switch that will activate when I put the shifter in low gear (I can post pics). When I let off the brake it should turn off. So unless I am in low gear and on the brake the 2 step will not work.

Does this sound correct?
