Love the SS/MA Comet.

The rain rolled in a little before 4 o'clock just after Pro Stock qualifying finished. A couple of pair of funny cars got to make their second qualifying run and then the slow drizzle picked up to a point where most of the teams headed back to the pits to pack it up for the day. Looking at the forecast for Saturday it appears there's a chance that this drizzle could last all day.

These John force faces glued to a paint stirring stick appeared to be some type of promotion for Peak. I saw a number of fans walking around the pits with these things but never bothered to ask what was behind the souvenir.

It's sad to see how many "FANS" feel completely entitled to help themselves to the banners that are posted at the track. This "FAN" was complaining to his colleague that he had forgotten the nail clippers he usually brings to events to cut the tie wraps quicker.

I have one bit of commentary from a Stocker racer about the new registration process (and no Tech). He waited in line for one hour to submit his tech card to the NHRA folks in the trailer. There were 12 racers in front of him when the clock started - it took 60 minutes to process the 12 racers. While the Tech may have been "streamlined", there were no efficiency gains downstream at the racer registration trailer.

Here's the early morning forecast for Pomona It looks like the rain may hold off long enough to get some racing in this morning and that would include more stock and Super Stock racing. I'm about 15 miles east of the track in Ontario and the ground is still wet and there's lots of moisture in the air. Stay tuned for an update from the track. I'll be there in about 90 minutes.

Just to add to what Mike said. I got word from the track that it was raining early this morning, its cloudy and damp now. Kind of dark and gloomy and it looks like rain. 8:15 is the start time for round 3 of stock, but who knows if it will be pushed back or not.

It's almost 9:00 and the track drying continues. Chris Whitney is the only Stocker waiting at the back of the lanes. There are intermittent sprinkles and the air is cold. Stay tuned.

9:30 update - Stock in the lanes and paired ......... a steady drizzle hits the track. Staging lane officials send the cars back to the pits.
