Dan:

I see the Pure Stock Drags are limited to 1979 and older.
Too bad they do not have a 1980 and newer class with the same type of rules. That would be cool seeing the EFI cars competing in Stock appearing trim.

There is another group of racers that look stock but run wicked fast...

The F.A.S.T. ( Factory Appearing Stock Tire) cars are limited to 70's and older models.

http://www.fastdrags.com/index.html

They also have Factory Stock ( with strict rules)

Years ago I had an idea:
I thought what the heck...now that the 1983 and newer cars were getting older, why not apply the same rules to the newer models ?
Newer cars are a lot easier to afford than say a 1973 Super Duty 455 Trans Am or a 440 6BBL Road Runner.

Cars would look stock on the outside but allow any internal mods that could be hidden. (except for nitrous)
Or a class with stock spec internals much like IHRA Pure Stock.

There are lots of classes out there where guys can race the older stuff in "Stock" classes, but no one allows late model Pure Stockers except for the IHRA.

IHRA classes are allowed with the Arizona S/SS Association..
Also with Allstar Racing in New England..
Plus whatever assoc's that appreciate the car count.

Usually no lane choice for Pure/S.

That's great Mark !

Sadly, around here Pure Stock is not allowed at either track in their Combo Races.

Dan:

As far as beating on NHRA, my gut feeling is that would be a waste of time.
It's been discussed many times on this board about "corporate" decisions that are made in Glendora and most of the time they do not favor sportsman racers.

You would be better off spending your time talking with the NMCA or the Pure Stock Drags.

The NMCA right now seems receptive to new ideas and since they already have 6 combo races scheduled this year, maybe you could convince them to do a special race within a race for the Pure Stockers ?
