Are you in a freezing climate area ?
Most Diesel engines need to have the block heater plugged in to stop the fuel from jelling . It will also cause a very slow or no crank situation.
Anything below 30deg will cause a diesel to have a hard start issue

Ends up I had 2 problems. First one of the brand new batteries was defective second the wire from the solenoid to the starter motor was corroded about 1/2 way thru. If u wiggled the wire while on the starter tester it would maybe turn over but most likely not. Ended up replacing the bad battery and put in a new starter wow fires right up just like brand new. fed 387
