I scanned the June 87 issue of Mustang Magazine which features your car Mike in it on four pages and also has footage from the 86 US Nationals which shows your car leaving in the air running in SS/F, If I am not mistaken the The Bray and Gilliam Mustang was there to also and it won in SS/G. The Ford really did good in Stock and Super Stock that year. If some can post it I will email the files to them. Smitty |

Check out the Cragar wheels on that car,,, what were they called, I'm thinking Super Slots,, not very popular at the time, and extremely rare to find today.

At one point they were called Bob Glidden wheels, or something like that. At least every time I see a set I call them Glidden wheels.

The blue mustang was pretty cool but I have always been partial to the yellow Mustang in the picture and it is not Mikes old car.

It's great some of these old cars are still around and raced. Bummer that Mark Tallent isn't.
I think the first time i saw Bray and Gilliam's Mustang it was in a regular SS class even though there were GT classes. That was the good old days in lots of other classes too. I think at Pomona one year there was not only Lloyd Bray but were stickshift Super Gas cars, twin engine Alky Dragsters, a turbo Pontiac/Chevy engined Alky Funny Car and a twin Buick V6 Top Fuel Dragster. Just don't get that variety now. |
