Just for the record this was my first national event as a racer and while we had no clue when we were going to run I still had a great time with even better people.

Ill try to steer this back into racing as it is Strickland vs Tom Russell with Jim Boburka having the bye to the final! In SS it's D'Agnolo vs Null & C Marshall vs R Running. Looks to be a beautiful day..

Hopefully some photos and race reporting will get us back on track. NHRA track crew scraped the starting line before the first round of the factory showdown. Prior to that pro mod had run it's qualifying session and a number of the cars seemed to have issues hooking up. Round one of the Factory Showdown was certainly exciting with upsets, clean runs, crazy wheel stands, " I can't believe he red lighted" and everything that makes this category a favorite with the fans.

Some general shots from around the track on Saturday. First is the ice cream line at 11 AM in the morning.

Seat rentals were available on both sides of the track

Dodge had its Demon dragracing simulator which looked to be the most popular place on the midway. It's pretty well done - the cars lift in the front when you leave the line, you paddle shift the gear changes and race the guy next to you. Note that the tree is really tight and you have to wait on the yellow or you'll go red.

There are only a couple of 2 Lane Roads to get to Norwalk and traffic was backed up for miles. Note the flags on the top of the fence posts. The track was very tastefully decorated with American flags in red white and blue banners everywhere.

Norwalk brought in the Scott Rods Ohio-based gasser circuit to make exhibition runs during the event. These are largely period correct AA/GS cars that put on a first class show for the fans. It is a highly choreographed show with Long smoky burnouts across the starting line and back up girls.

These cars were always mobbed in their pit spot with fans checking out the cars and the crew.

D3 racer Tom Russell is one of the 3 remaining cars in Stock. Tom won the LODRS race here in May.

Looking down through the qualifying sheets for Stock, I noticed there was no lower classed car than an N/SA on the list. Isn't this a little unusual? Where's all the slow guys??

Well I have internet access, but I am not at the track. Todays weather is absolutely beautiful. I have lots of photos, but have to put them in some kind of order. I will be back with those later. Just a quick thought on this weeks race. I know we don't get treated right in many cases, but even with some of the issues this week, it was still great to be out here. I got chance to get up to the media suite, and boy does NHRA have there hands full trying to get these events done. I would not want to be in the their shoes. With that said, I think any hobby can have issues and reason not to do it. Dragracing may not be perfect, but I'm willing to accept its flaws and enjoy the good times with friends and family.

Be back shortly....
