When making a run or out on the pit bike I have made an effort to lock the trailer the last few seasons. Unfortunately, there are thieves and crack heads EVERYWHERE.....The fact that I don't carry a piece won't help the POS that attempts to break in my truck or trailer....

All you need is some gas and a match. Lesson from Roy Hill.

Yes, things are getting bad. Reading has become a rather bad area as the government seeks to spread dependents west from the urban areas. Then you have Philly close. Hard to believe crooks and kids would buy a ticket to get in and expect to be able to carry stuff out the gate. Would be easy to park in the upper field at Maple Grove and cut a hole in the fence to get in late at night. Just have to be prepared and aware.

It's just too easy for some lowlife to walk in on a general admission ticket and stay late and blend in until its dark .

Reading PA. is full heroin addicts.(like most cities) Looks are very deceiving when it comes to the area Maple Grove is located in. It wouldn't take much for an opioid addict to sneak into the track.....

Dan if you're talking about a non resident permit you have to be very careful. Fla. non res. is not recognized in NY,NJ,PA and Md here in the East. Where it is recognized there are certain restrictions that if you don't follow them to the tee you'll be wearing an orange jumpsuit. If you have a NY resident permit it makes it a lot less complicated, but there are still restrictions in some of the Blue states. There's a booklet you can get on line that outlines gun laws in all 50 states. Be careful about info you get on the Internet, it can get you in a heap of trouble.
Also having a firearm and using it on someone breaking into your trailer and or stealing your things can get you thrown in the can in some places. It's a big responsibility carrying and can offer piece of mind if you consider all the consequences of your actions.
I got my Fla. non resident a few years ago, and 2 months later PA refused to recognize non resident permits. The only place I can carry is Del. Who the hell goes to Del. (besides my pal Earl Nichols).
BTW there are a few other states that issue non resident permits, some good some not so good.

Thumbs up Re: Attempted trailer break in at Maple Grove

A good dog is worth more than a good gun. You have to be awake to use the gun but a good dog will do that for you. I have a cop friend that swears a good dog is better than the best alarms. Even the smallest of dogs will awake you. When I am not home my dog guards my family and she is no light weight! Just glad you and the boys are ok Dan

Way back when I would drive my cars to the track to race them, I thought I was being cool by taking all the loose weight out of my car and stashing it under a tarp in my pit space. (Like an extra 1/10 meant anything in a 16-sec bracket car!)

That all ended when I had my tool box stolen from the pits at Englistown. Since then, anything that travels with me to the track stays locked in the car the entire time.

"Phallus inhaler"...best insult I have heard in a very long time...lol

Doesn't really matter where you go anymore, people will try and take advantage of any chance they can get. I know when we were racing we always locked our stuff up, but let's be honest, if someone wants to get it, they are going to damn well try their hardest.

Glad it worked out for the best Dan and thanks for giving us all a heads up.
