you do understand that for some reason you got your wish, as soon as the NHRA guys decided a combo was good and engine guys like Barton, Morgantini, Tillburg and others started working on these engines, they would be 1+ second combos and you would be in the same boat spending alot of money to be competetive again?

I did not mean it to make it sound personal. I would guess we are on the same side of the argument.

For example, the 1972 Ford Mustang has 6-7 different factory engine combinations to use. The most powerful of which is the 351/275 re-rated to 325 or 330 by NHRA. which fits in D/SA-F/SA.In that case, allow any crate motor from Ford that has a maximum rating of 330 or less. That Mustang would still run in the same classes if it had a 330 hp crate motor, lower classes if it had a less powerful engine. |

What is your present combination? What is the year, make, engine size and factory horsepower that you claim? What is the year, make and body style that you claim for your car? What type of transmission? Thank you.

Bob I believe Dan has the same combination Eric Campolito they call the "Taxi cab". he was qualified .930 at the latest division 3 race in J/SA with his 96 Caprice.

His is actually an SS with a Caprice grill. Which allows him to run J/SA and good bit lighter! SS nose would run K L M. They got a lot invested in it to run that quick. Think they broke several gears and one engine. Use to run R/SA with the baby LT1. The other well know Caprice now runs P/SA. It was originally built by Bernie Steinke nicknamed Snowflake. Later bought by Bryan Herter then by Corbitt Marshburn. NHRA added a lot of HP on the mini LT1 as the national recorded was being hit between Don and Corbitt. Cool days like today my car will run 12.90. Figure maybe 3 more tenths left finding every last trick in the book. Corbitt managed a cold air day best of 12.39 with his F/PS Impala SS before selling it. My best on cold air day is a 12.68 105 Fwiw our cars have the same chassis as the 60/70/80 Chevelles, GTOs and mid/late 80s Impala and Caprice.. D Last edited by Dan Fahey; 10-22-2017 at 09:27 PM. |
