I have repaired a lot of cracked blocks in the lifter galleys but have never seen one crank in that area. Having two head bolts holes close by makes for a high stress area. That one is a tough call.

I have always used the Lock-N-Stitch method with real good results. Welding the crack once the weld cools it will just crack again.
