I hope someone comes up with an explanation as to how a car was able to dial over the index. The index is what makes stock and ss a performance based eliminator. Otherwise it's just bracket racing...

You would think that every racer checks the Q sheet to see where he is qualified, notices his index , etc....Maybe the racer in question has never ran the 1/8 mile before and just made a mistake. Back in the stone ages a track employee or tech man would check all the dials in the staging lanes for this very reason. Just can’t help but wonder what would have happened if the racer in question went 4 or 5 rounds ?? Also with today’s sophisticated timing systems , shouldn’t there be a safeguard in place when dialing over the index, Michael Beard ? Anyone know ?

Computer is suppose to go red or something when a car dials over the index. Crazy that this can happen.....

I emailed Rich Schaefer asking for an explanation. He said it was tower error. If it happened one round I could see it, but two rounds dialed over the index? I'm not buying it.
