Re: Arlen Vanke ?
No, only a Duster in 1970.
He had two '71 cars. The second car that Bill Abraham drove was an updated '70 car that Arlen bought from Jim Hale. It was the car Jim had that sustained fire damage. That car is still around and was last known to be used as a bracket car in Ohio. Arlen's personal '71 was destroyed. |

Re: Arlen Vanke ?
Thank you.
Yes, just what I thought. Reson I ask is I saw this 1970 car magazine article head line saying "Arlen Vanke Pro Stock Barracuda". But if I remember correctly the ´68 Barracuda was raced some in Pro Stock?? Never read the article... |

Re: Arlen Vanke ?
If the '68 car was run in Pro, Bill Abraham or Charlie GIlbertson was driving it. I know Charlie Gilbertson ran the '68 car in '70, but I believe it was as an SS car. That is the car that is now restored in the paint scheme that Arlen's first '68 had.

Re: Arlen Vanke ?
Ah. Good picture. That is probably from the Pro Stock exhibition race NHRA ran in 1969 as a preview for the class.

Re: Arlen Vanke ?
Thanks for the info. Well this was a little sidetrack in my search for the B-class cars. This is the pic related to the article I mentioned.
