Default Broke down in Halifax on Canada Day

Well, the Bluesmobile made it to the last day of the Great Race. Would not start this morning due to fuel pump failure. IF any racers close by have a generic 12V 3/8 line pump/wire/clamps/hose etc, we could bypass the stock setup. All the stores are closed and we are at the Marriott downtown. I can get it going when the stores open but thought I would ask the racing cloud.....Thanks and have a great holiday. Stephen 337-499-44 three five

Thanks to all that reached out. Parts stores should be open Monday and about an hour job to fix it. We have tools. Great firework show in Halifax so it's not like we are stranded. Just missed the finish line celebration so Corky Coker had to sing Soul Man. LOL Jake

Check the fuel pump pushrod. They can wear one end off and be too short to actuate the pump. When you look at it the center is larger diameter and machined smooth, each end should be the same length.

Quick update. We cut in an electric pump and it worked about a mile and lost prime. I noticed a gas drip spot under the tank in the over height parking garage so we have an air/gas leak at the tank. When it started with the electric pump, the remaining fuel in the manual line pumped out all over engine so it works. It is a blockage or air leak at the tank. Triple A has it at Coast Tire on Young Street, Halifax (closed) which is observing their holiday today. SO, if anyone knows someone there, give them a jingle as we are a LONG way from Louisiana. Thanks, Phish 337-499-44 three five

why not run hose from the pump down the tank fill tube. at least thay would get you back on the road till you can find a place that's open-heck ya could probably drive it like that all the way back to the swamps

Thanks to all that have reached out. We dropped/cleaned the tank last year, new sending unit, hoses and seal and it ran fine last Great Race. Mark Howes has me a close by contact if we have schedule problems at Coast Tire. It's a 1006 miles to Chicago, we have a full tank of gas, bad prime, half of pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we are wearing sunglasses!!!! Phish

Great Race had a Mustang upside down wreck (both folks survived), a brake loss on MT. Washington and a fellow racer blocked run away car with his 66.5 Stang to save a cliff dive (certain death), racer heart attack last night. GOOD GRIEF puts my little fuel problem in perspective. Hope I can make it back for USNATS. The blue car!

Shout out to Mark Howes who set me up with 1231 E/SA 71 Demon
Kelly MacKay . Nice shop, dropped tank and went thru every piece of the fuel delivery system. No major flaws so we think the screen (sock) in the tank slid and blocked the flow. Will set sail in the AM and see what happens. Thanks again Mark, Kelly and his staff. Great shop with great tunes. Phish
